Mark Braithwaite
Since 1994, Mark has worked with global Technology vendors in building their leadership teams across Asia Pacific, Australia and South Africa. Through years of experience and specialization in the Technology sector, Mark has built a network and reputation in the region which gives the firm reach and access to the best possible talent.
Mark’s career began in the UK with British Aerospace. His early career followed an engineering path which led him to found a VC backed hardware and software company, specialising in industrial data collection in the 1980’s. Following significant growth, his business was acquired in 1993. In 1994, he joined a South African executive search firm as shareholder and Managing Director. He divested this interest in 1997 when he moved to Australia as a founding member of BSP.
Julie Steiner
Julie Steiner founded BSP with Mark Braithwaite in 1997. Prior to Search, Julie spent more than 20 years at CEO level in Public and Private sector organisations. Building large and complex organisations with international affiliations has been her speciality.
Since the mid 1990s her expertise in Executive Search has made Julie a key opinion maker in her Search Practice areas. The ability to manage projects with multiple stakeholders is a common theme in her Search work.
At BSP Julie leads the Higher Education and Schools; and Media, Arts and Entertainment Practice Groups. Alongside day-to-day search assignments Julie supports her co-Directors in areas such as international growth strategy and business development. Her search clients are at Vice-Chancellor, CEO and Board level across a wide range of private and public sector institutions.
Julie is a graduate of Melbourne University. She participates in mentoring programs for a range of major corporations, consults on organisational change and is a member of a number of boards within the cultural sector.
Mark Pretty
Mark brings significant experience to BSP’s clients, gained from a successful career spanning twenty years in senior roles with a number of leading global Technology vendors. His early career was spent in sales management in Europe prior to moving to Australia on assignment in 1990. Positions as Sales Director and Managing Director followed, culminating in a successful IPO for a regional software company where Mark was VP for Asia Pacific.
Since 2000, Mark has successfully led many senior executive searches for BSP’s key clients across the Asia Pacific region. Those searches have included Vice Presidents, Managing Directors and most key regional leadership positions for both large vendors and smaller new market entrants.
Ben Burrell
Ben has worked in the Executive Search industry since 1996. Over the last five years he has specialised in Technology Search, primarily in the Greater China, India and the ASEAN region. Successful assignments include President, Vice President, Country Manager and Regional Director level, across technology segments. Prior to BSP, Ben held management roles in both Hong Kong and Australian search firms. His early career began in the financial services industry, specifically working for large stockbroking houses. Tertiary studies in psychology and economics, and a passion for ‘Tomorrows Asian CEO’, promoted a career in the search industry. In early 2008, Ben became a Director and Shareholder in BSP’s Asian operations.
