Tony Grierson

Tony has held senior roles at ABN Amro (now Royal Bank of Scotland), Beyond Television, the NSW Film & Television Office (now Screen NSW) and the Sydney Film Festival.

He holds a Bachelor of Business from UTS and has a professional background in stockbroking, financial services and in the media and cultural sectors.

Tony’s search work at BSP encompasses senior executive roles across higher education, arts and culture, sports and major events, media and screen, and government and public sector agencies.

In the arts and cultural sectors he has conducted searches for Board members, CEOs, Executive Directors and Artistic Directors, along with senior executive positions for many of Australia’s performing and visual arts organisations, festivals and cultural institutions including the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), National Film & Sound Archive, Powerhouse Museum, Orchestra Victoria, Australian Ballet, Australian Major Performing Arts Group (AMPAG), Queensland Theatre Company, Australian National Maritime Museum, Carriageworks, Adelaide Festival, Museums and Galleries of the Northern Territory, Campbelltown Arts Centre, Sydney Symphony, NIDA, Queensland Music Festival, Sydney Festival, Queensland Ballet, Bell Shakespeare, Melbourne Theatre Company, Circus Oz, Brisbane Powerhouse and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

In sports and major events Tony recently completed the search for the new Director of Marketing and Communications for the Australian Grand Prix Corporation.

His work in the education sector includes the CEO and senior executive positions for Open Universities Australia (OUA), the CEO for  the Australian Council for Private Education (ACPET) along with DVCs, VPs, PVCs, Deans, Heads of Departments and senior corporate service positions in development, marketing, human resources, legal and international recruitment for universities including Swinburne, Canberra, Charles Darwin, Edith Cowan, Auckland, Monash, Bond, Charles Sturt, South Australia, Curtin, New England, Macquarie, Tasmania, Southern Queensland, La Trobe, Adelaide and Melbourne Universities.

Tony’s work in government and the public sector include searches for the Chief of Sustainable Ecosystems Division and the Director for the Water for a Healthy Country Flagship at CSIRO, the Deputy Secretary for Agriculture & Fisheries Services for the Department of Primary Industries in Victoria, the Chair of the Biosciences Research Centre in Victoria and the CEO of Indigenous Business Australia.

Searches in the media and screen sectors he has undertaken include the Director of Radio and the Director of Screen Content for AFTRS, the CEO and HR Manager for Screen Australia, the Director of Audio and Language Content for SBS and the Head of Digital and Technology for the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI).
